Job Description
The Ignatian teacher has Christ as a model and sees teaching as a ministry.
He or she gives testimony to the religious apostolate carried out by the school by educating the students and helping them to live an authentic Christian life. The English teacher carries out the responsibilities and expectations of a full-time professor, providing English courses according to the curriculum of the English Department at Colegio San Ignacio.

Responsibilities

  1. Commits to the Catholic and Jesuit school mission, serving Puerto Rico.
  2. Promotes the integral development of the student through educational experiences that reflect the values and character of the Ignatian philosophy.
  3. Teaches English courses according to the school curriculum and the interests of the students.
  4. Assumes the role of a guide that stimulates the process of self-education in his or her students.
  5. Implements a variety of teaching methods and promotes an effective and up to date pedagogical practice to better serve the individual needs of his or her students.
  6. Develops educational material aligned with the mission of Colegio San Ignacio and the curriculum of the English Department. Documents include syllabus, grades, attendance, evaluations, student reports, referrals, discipline reports, among others.
  7. Models the attitudes and behavior of a spiritually well-formed Christian and corrects the lack thereof in the student. To achieve this, he or she treats the student with the same respect and appreciation that he or she expects to receive.
  8. Participates in meetings and school activities established in the school calendar.
  9. Collaborates with school committees to achieve individual, departmental, and institutional goals.
  10. Promotes effective communication with students, staff, and families.
  11. Uses the official digital platform of PlusPortals and other digital programs according to the school policies and the educational objectives of the English Department.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in Education or English Literature or related field.
  2. Certification by the Department of Education of Puerto Rico
  3. Experience working in the classroom with students 11-18 years of age.
  4. Ability to design and teach courses in the Department of English (Introduction to Literature, World Literature, American Literature, British Literature, etc.)
  5. Excellent verbal and communication skills in English.
  6. Organizational skills with attention to detail.
  7. Ability to work and collaborate as part of a team.
  8. Familiar with various educational digital platforms.
  9. Available for regular school schedule and other activities as part of his or her responsibilities.
  10. Available to accompany and represent the department’s school teams and club members in and out of Puerto Rico as needed.

Starting Day: October 2021

Descripción del Puesto: Bajo la supervisión del Supervisor de Mantenimiento, el empleado de mantenimiento provee el mantenimiento preventivo, reparaciones y limpieza general diaria a las instalaciones físicas.

Responsabilidades:

  1. Realiza tareas simples de reparación y mantenimiento (plomería, construcción, electricidad, pintura, acondicionadores de aire, entre otras)
  2. Limpia y mantiene instalaciones físicas en general. • Vacía y mantiene limpios los zafacones y otros contenedores. • Barre, pasa mapo, remueve polvo de las superficies y limpia ventanas. • Limpia los baños, y repone el papel de baño, papel toalla y jabón. • Limpia las Salas de Reuniones, Facultad, Biblioteca y Centros Estudiantiles, pasillos, oficinas y cualquier otra área asignada.
  3. Asiste en el movimiento diario de mobiliario, cajas y otros artículos pesados.
  4. Se asegura que los salones, oficinas y portones de los edificios estén cerrados, concluidas las labores del día.
  5. Almacena los materiales de limpieza y equipo general de mantenimiento.
  6. Colabora en el montaje de actividades especiales.
  7. Cualquier otra tarea que se le solicite.

Requisitos del Puesto:

  1. Graduado de Cuarto Año de Escuela Superior.
  2. Conocimiento general en plomería, electricidad, mecánica y construcción.
  3. Experiencia previa en trabajos similares.
  4. Excelentes destrezas de relación humana y trabajo en equipo. Capacidad de interactuar positivamente con sus compañeros del Departamento de Mantenimiento, personal del Colegio, estudiantes, padres y antiguos alumnos.
  5. Disponibilidad dentro y fuera del horario laborable, según la necesidad, y en actividades requeridas.
  6. Compromiso con la misión católica y jesuita del colegio.
